What's the name of a children's novella about a unicorn?
I can only recall that in the end, the girl lies on her side in bed, and looks at her nightstand which has a crystal figurine of a unicorn on top. I think that this girl enters some sort of strange land through a gateway, and that there is only one unicorn, and that after completing some sort of journey through this land, is given the crystal unicorn as a way to remember the actual one. The paperback cover of my copy was mostly beige, and I think the book may have been published through scholastic. It's been bothering me, as the end of the story really struck me as a child, and I suppose it has sort of stayed. If any of you can help, that'd be great! I'd really appreciate it. Cheers!
