The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker: How do you return to the Great Sea after the battle with Puppet Ganon?

The door to its room seems permanently locked. I want to return to the Great Sea and get its figurine for the Nintendo Gallery. It seems that I can't go back to the water room with crystal switches (the room that has a warp spot for warping to the Forsaken Fortress).

    If you simply save and quit when you come back you should be outside of the room where you fought puppet ganon, but the boss will still be dead when you return.
