Definition of mint condition ?

I received some figurines and the boxes had wear from age, sticky taped corners, scratches, and sticky marks from where sticky tape had been previously removed. If a collectable figurine, described as "BRAND NEW MINT CONDITION" arrives and the integrity of the original packaging had been compromised...? Without good quality packaging in may as well have removed and played with, what are your thoughts?

That kind of packaging damage should be mentioned, even on cheap purchases. Even if the figure is minty, it’s obviously not like "brand new" if the box if falling apart.

I don’t trust any eBay description that doesn’t list the flaws on vintage items.

sorry but you got screwed…even if the figurine was in ‘mint condition’ or not…the box implies that it’s not ‘brand new’…

If the box have been took apart in anyway… it is not in mint condition since it isn’t how it was went it was originally shipped from the original warehouse.

So yeah, you have been ripped.

It depends upon the description and what that descr. is about. How old is the figurine? Its not unusual for tape that is used to seal a package to lose its stickiness and fall off – it does not necessarily mean that its been tampered with. I’ve even got items purchased a little over 10 years ago and the tape has fallen off – pretty crappy tape! If I had seen "brand new mint condition" I would assume it has to do with the item inside the box, otherwise, I would expect " MIMB" to be part of the descriptor. If the figure was never removed from the box and handled, the description is accurate. When you purchased the item, did it include a photo of the item and or the box? Did you inquire about the item with questions about the packaging? Always, no matter how minor you may feel about it, ask questions. Also ask about return policy – if its not to your liking and you aren’t satisfied, find out how you can send it back. It’ll cost you but you won’t be left with this feeling that you’ve been "taken".
